My altered Gap dress, as promised

I picked up my Gap dress today that I had taken in to shorten the sleeves. I am pretty happy with the result! I will wear it much more now I think! Here it is:

I am definitely happy I did this! The sleeves hit right above my elbows now!
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have some fun weekend plans!

Oh and P.S. I am already on my 76th post! I think a giveaway will be in order once I hit 100!

Some Carrie Bradshaw Wisdom

When you want to buy something (a dress, shoes, etc.) but you know you SHOULDN'T, do you ever think, What would Carrie do? And we all know what Carrie would do in this situation :)

It's so much more fun to be irresponsible and just buy, knowing that everything will work out later. Sometimes I catch myself thinking, if Carrie can afford Manolos, I can afford a Diane von Furstenberg dress. I will be honest, I can rationalize just about any purchase. I never really got the chance to be a Carrie-like shopper. I got engaged right after I graduated college, so as soon as I started having an income above $7/hour, it was time to think about a place to live, "house stuff", etc. Don't get me wrong, my hubby has caught on to the fact that I love to shop, but I think he would be upset if I purchased Manolos or a Chanel without discussing it first. He's a guy, he just doesn't see these things as investments like I do :) Sometimes I just wish I could drive to my Chanel and purchase the bag of my dreams, and then deal with the consequences later. Being an adult = having responsibilities, which is so overated sometimes. So for now, my solution is to put aside money every times I withdraw cash and put it in my Chanel fund. I am getting sort of close to owning one :)

Today I received my J.Crew Ruffle Cardigan

Sorry I know these aren't the best pictures, but I tried. I think I like this cardigan. It is more lightweight than I expected, but I think it will be perfect for summer. I ordered an XS and it seems to fit well. I think I am just gettin used to the fact that it doesn't close in the front. But I think it will be perfect to wear over dresses in the summer. Does anyone else have this? Should I keep it or return it? Thanks for your help!

My bright idea today

Remember this shirt dress from the Gap (from a few summers ago)?

Well I, like every other female that summer, bought this dress. I love the shirt dress look. However, I did not like the sleeves on these. During the summer, it is too hot for long sleeves. Plus I am just not a fan of long sleeves. Therefore I didn't wear this much :(
WELL today I came up with a brilliant idea. . . cut the sleeves off! I took this to the taylor today to have the sleeves shortened! Why didn't I think of this earlier!! I am cutting the sleeves back so they hit right before the elbow.
I will post pictures as soon as I get it back! I can't wait to wear it with my gladiators this spring and summer!

Polyvore

I have (obviously) been playing on Polyvore tonight. While doing so, I came across this really cute pink plaid shirtdress from Wet Seal. I decided to make an outfit out of it, using the concept of mixing expensize pieces with cheaper ones. Here it is! I think it's perfect for lunch out with the girls!

Outfits

I am so excited for my new J.Crew cardigans to arrive that I thought I would make some summer outfits with them! Here are some outfits with shorts, using things I already own :

J.Crew Ruffle
I recently bought those tanks from American Eagle. Aren't they cute! You might not be able to see it here, but the the straps are braided - very nautical and Spring-like! I tried to put these shoes on my Polyvore, but I couldn't find them! They are Kate Spade's Racquels. So so cute!

J. Crew Order

Okay, I think I am going to go for it and order some things from J.Crew now while they are offering free shipping on orders over $150 (code: FREESHIP). Here is what I am considering:

The cotton-cashmere ruffle cardigan. I've been eyeing this for a while. Has anyone seen this (it's catalogue only). I am wondering if it fits true to size. I might get this in 2 colors.

The corsage scoop neck tee. Again, does anyone know if this runs true to size?
Thanks!

My new obsession

My new designer obsession is Trina Turk! Her designs are so fun and colorful, and her prints are so fun! I LOVE this top:

I also like this Trina dress:

Her price point isn't outrageous either. She is around the same price as Tory Burch and Diane von Furstenberg. Plus her stuff goes on sale at the end of seasons, so you can score some pieces at great prices. I am definitely a big Trina fan. AND she is now coming out with a residential line! Look at these prints:

I want it all!

Happy Easter

I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

My week

Sorry again I was M.I.A. this week. When work gets crazy, I don't have a lot of time to blog. Well it was one of those weeks! At least it makes the week fly by! And now, not only is it the weekend, it's Easter weekend! Happy Easter everyone! Any fun plans? I have a day of shopping planned tomorrow followed by the traditional Easter festivities on Sunday!

For everyone who asked about Rachel Getting Married:
- Anne Hathaway definitely made the movie. I see why she was nominated for best actress. A very different role for her, but in a good way. The movie is a little on the depressing side. It's not uplifting, but it's not bad. It is worth seeing for sure. I am curious to hear what other people thought of it.

Have a great weekend, and I will post the results of my shopping day tomorrow!
