My trip to Old Navy

So today while I was out and about, I wandered into Old Navy, thinking that I would be pretty safe in there because I usually don't spend too much in there. Well let's just say I found A LOT that I wanted!! Here are some of them:

I actually got this. It was only $30, and it is a cute little summer dress.

I just think these are the cutest little loafers - or driving shoes!

What's better than a pink pea coat! I think this was $40. Not too bad.

Old Navy's yoga wear is nice, and it isn't very expensive. Good for lounging around or working out!

L is for. . . . .

Megs at The Newbie New Yorker asked me to play the Letter Game. If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know, and I'll assign you a letter. You post ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain continues on and on.
Megs assigned me the letter 'L'... so here are my 10 favorite things...

1.) Laughing - it makes me forget about all the problems in the world. Isn't it fun to laugh so hard you cry? I love laughing with my friends.

2.) Labradors - how could you not love these cute little faces??

3.) Lunches - I love meeting my friends and gossiping over lunch. Because who doesn't want to be a lady who lunches?

4.) Louis Vuitton - this represents my love for fashion!

5.) Lattes - these help me function when I need to be up early. and they taste yummy :)

6.) Little black dresses - can you say instant sex appeal? no wonder these will always be a closet staple

7.) Lazy weekends - when weeks get so so busy, it is nice to spend a weekend doing nothing - staying in pajamas, watching movies, reading magazines, etc. I need one of these soon!!

8.) Las Vegas - the playground for adults! There is something for everyone in Vegas!

9.) Lip Gloss - I am a big lip gloss junkie. They are pretty low maintenance and they make you look good!

10.) Love! I love to love! I love my friends, family, and husband!

Christina Applegate in Emanuel Ungaro - this green looked absolutely fabulous on her!

Claire Danes in Nina Ricci - she looked so very elegant!

Kate Winslet in Narciso Rodriguez - LOVE this color on her!

Anne Hathaway in Azzaro - stunning neckline!

Penelope Cruz in Azzedine Alaia - elegant like usual

I also liked Katrina Bowden in Christina Siriano and Evan Rachel Wood in Monique Lhuillier.

a few of my favorite things. . .

I thought I would share some of my favorite beauty products with all my blogger friends. I use these all the time and love them.
make up

1.) MAC Tinted Lipglass in Nymphette. It is a goldish pink color and I love it. It is very different than it looks on the MAC website.
2.) Frederic Fekkai Technician Color Care 3 Minute Mask. This stuff is great. I use it twice a week on my colored hair.
3.) Paris Hilton by Paris Hilton. I just love the smell of this. It's nothing fancy, but it works for everyday.
4.) NARS Lip Lacquer in Baby Doll. It is a lovely pink that makes me feel very girly.
5.) Dior Show mascara. As Wearing Mascara just posted, the wand really is huge.
6.) Smashbox O-Gloss. This turns a different shade of pink on everyone. It's light but still colorful.
7.) Essie polish in Wicked. Very dark, but I love it. I like that it isn't black but is semi-close.
8.) Victoria Secret Beauty Rush lip glosses. I have so many different flavors, and I love them. I stock up during the semi-annual sale.
And if you couldn't tell, I am sort of a lip gloss junkie :)
My review of the Nina Garcia book is still coming, I promise!

merci, gracias, grazi, thank you!

I want to say a big thank you to Mrs Stilettos for introducing me on her blog today! I am really glad I entered the blogging world, and I look forward to making a lot of blogger friends! So thank you to everyone who has stopped by and started following my blog!
Also, thank you all for helping me rationalize the purchase of those kate spade mary janes! I decided to go for it. . . and of course the website didn't have my size! So I frantically called my Nordstrom, and although my Nordstrom didn't have my size, the sales associate was able to find them at a different store (and I got the LAST size 6! Can you say fate!) Thank you Nordstrom, as this is yet another reason why I LOVE Nordstrom so much. They are so helpful! And they didn't charge me shipping! And not that I needed it, but did you know they will price match if you find something cheaper at another store?? Man I love them!
Happy Monday (ha ha), and I can't wait for Gossip Girl!

It's Honesty Time. . .

Just as I was thinking that I haven't done a blog formally introducing myself, The Life & Times of Team Taylor tagged me in her honesty post. Perfect! Here are the rules:

You have to chose a minimum of 7 fabulous blogs to pass this goodie on to. Post the fabulous blogs of your choice as a link on your blog.AND List at least 10 honest things about yourself.

So here goes, 10 things about me!
1.) I am happily married to "T." We've been married for 2 years and know each for 5.
2.) I love shopping. A lot. I love Banana Republic, Nine West, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Tory Burch, and Diane von Furstenberg.
3.) Some of my guilty pleasures are: gossip magazines, shopping (obviously), mani pedis, mexican food, cheese cake, and the movies Pretty Woman & Father of the Bride
4.) I have never lived by myself. I've always had roomates or been married.
5.) My favorite TV shows are: Sex and the City, Gossip Girls, Entourage, Project Runway America's Next Top Model & The Sopranos.
6.) I am a little bit of a perfectionist. I always have been. I can't do any thing half ass. Which works well in the professional word :)
7.) I am addicted to coffee. It is my saving grace now that I am in the working world and have to be up early everday.
8.) I love dessert. It is the best part of the meal. I have a hard time resisting. Especially cheesecake. I don't think I have ever turned down cheesecake.
9.) I am dying to travel to Australia, Fiji, and Bora Bora.
10.) My goal for the next year: to save up to buy a Chanel bag!
11.) My favorite colors are pink and blue!

Okay there they are! So I am tagging these 7 bloggers:

Do I need these?

Nordstrom has these Kate Spade shoes on sale for 50% off. Do I need them??? In my defense, I still have gift cards from Christmas :)

j.crew

Okay, so as I posted earlier, I really wanted the Aubrey halter dress from j.crew. I was out shopping today, and I happened to walk into a j.crew. Well the dress is already on sale, from $98 down to $78. So I tried it on :) Luckily for me, and my wallet, it did not look good on me. It flares out at the hips and makes me look big. I am on the petite size, so let's just say it is not flattering. If I were to wear a cardigan over it, it would look like I was wearing a poodle skirt. Sad. But on the positive side, I did find a skirt I liked. I didn't get it yet, but I am considering going back for it :)

It was originally $88 and it's already down to $59. Plus I have a $20 gift card from when my order was cancelled. I'll let you know what I decide.
Oh and coming soon, I will give you a review of the Nina Garcia book.

TGIF

Happy Friday everyone! I was thinking "TGIF" to myself this morning as I drove through Starbucks and had them mess up my drink, when I remembered what the phrase "TGIF" used to mean to me:

Yep, it meant Hangin with Mr. Cooper, Step by Step, Family Matters, and Boy Meets World all in one night! I mean, things couldn't have been any better than that!
Thinking about it made me google TGIF on ABC, which of course led me to Wikipedia. Here is what Wikipedia has to say about TGIF:
"TGIF was the slogan of a family-friendly prime time programming block on the ABC network. The slogan comes from the initials of the popular phrase Thank God It's Friday. However, the initials actually stood for "Thank Goodness It's Funny" (revealed during a 1989 TGIF block hosted by Perfect Strangers cast members Bronson Pinchot & Mark Linn-Baker).
Family-friendly comedies, which featured families with children as major characters, were a staple of ABC programming going back to the network's earlier sitcoms from the 1950s onward, such as The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (premiered 1952), Leave It to Beaver (moved to ABC in 1958 after its first season on CBS), The Donna Reed Show (premiered 1958), The Brady Bunch (premiered 1969) and The Partridge Family (premiered 1970; this and The Brady Bunch became part of the Friday night lineup at that time). All of these shows are considered television classics today.
Before ABC experienced its 1990's fame on Friday nights, its Friday night schedule consisted of hit comedies such as
Webster, Diff'rent Strokes, and Benson. The block of predominantly family-friendly situation comedies was inaugurated with the following sequence of shows in the 1988-89 season: Perfect Strangers, Full House, Mr. Belvedere and Just the Ten of Us. The first hosts were Larry Appleton (Mark Linn-Baker) and Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot), who had been doing interstitials since the 1987-88 season on the Perfect Strangers set commenting on other Friday night shows, before the family-friendly concept on that night took effect. An opening sequence for the Friday lineup was introduced in fall 1988, featuring animated mice against a gray background holding up title cards containing the theme lyrics. At the end of the intro, a tall mouse breaks a grandfather clock with a mallet. Pinchot and Linn-Baker would remain the sole hosts of the lineup throughout the 1988-89 season and into the first few weeks of the next season. Over the summer of 1989, ABC began experimenting with names for the Friday lineup, using "The Friday Fun Club" as a frequent branding during that time.
On Friday
October 13, 1989, definitive changes occurred when the Perfect Strangers stars began using the TGIF name on-screen, which they explained meant "Thank Goodness It's Funny" (this tagline was taken from the "mouse/clock" theme lyrics). Balki and Larry also announced during the evening that a new policy, in which stars from the other three TGIF programs would rotate in hosting along with them, would begin. With the TGIF moniker permanently in place, more changes in presentation were ahead as the lineup grew even more popular. At the start of the 1990-91 season, the animated mice opening and accompanying theme music was dropped, in favor of new graphics which used the new TGIF name in them officially for the first time. With these new visuals came the "classic" TGIF theme ("It's Friday night/and the mood is right, gonna have some fun show you how it's done, TGIF..").
In subsequent years, Perfect Strangers
spin-off, Family Matters and the Brady Bunch-inspired Step by Step joined the line-up.
During the most successful years of TGIF, the main characters of one of the Friday prime-time sitcoms would "host" the two-hour block of episodes for that week. Always in character, they would introduce each show and comment on the proceedings afterward (sometimes, characters from a sitcom that did not air on a Friday night would appear); occasionally they would find a common thread between each show, e.g. dog riding. In the late 1980s-early 1990s Fall Seasons, various casts would host
Saturday Morning Preview Specials, which previewed much of new Saturday morning programming which would air the following day prior to the Disney acquisition of ABC Saturdays.
TGIF was promoted with a series of
trading cards featuring publicity shots from Perfect Strangers, Full House, and Family Matters."
In 1997, Family Matters and Step by Step left TGIF and aired on CBS for the same night (which would be the final season for both). Both shows appeared on CBS Block Party, a similar sitcom programming block with four sitcoms, but failed with both the lineup and shows only lasting one season. As their Friday evening programming evolved, ABC retired the traditional TGIF logo and phased out the theme song.
ABC began to see sagging
ratings in the TGIF lineup, probably due to the Family Matters and Step By Step jumping networks earlier in the year. Popular programs such as Boy Meets World and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch started experiencing declining ratings. New shows joined the lineup, including the likes of Teen Angel and You Wish, which lasted only a season (or less) before they were dropped.
On
November 7, 1997, Salem from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch appeared on all four shows in the TGIF lineup and caused the characters in each show to travel back to a different point in time. The former four TGIF lineup episodes were non-canonical because supernatural did not exist in those programs. On a later episode of Boy Meets World, Melissa Joan Hart made a second cameo, as an aside, due to the episode in question involving a coven of witches being thwarted from taking the soul of one of the characters. The cameo features Boy Meets World character Eric describing the event and swearing off witches, not realizing that Sabrina is one.
Musical group
Hanson hosted TGIF leading up to their special Meet Hanson. Between the shows it showed them in the studio, "commanding" the shows to come on, and at one point even incorporating TGIF into their mega-hit song "MMMBop"."
Anyone else feeling a little nostalgic?

2009 Golden Globes

Of course I watched the Red Carpet for the 2009 Golden Globe awards. And I have to say, for the most part, the dresses were gorgeous. I didn't see too many that I just hated. I decided that I am going to post my top 5, so here they are:

5.) Drew Barrymore, John Galliano. Love the dress and the color, thought I'm not sure what is going on with her hair

4.) Jennifer Morrisen in Oscar de la Renta. What a fabulous color

3.) Cameron Diaz in Chanel Haute Couture. Again, what a fabulous color

2.) Eva Mendes in Dior

1.) Elizabeth Banks in J. Mendel

I also loved Kyra Sedwick, Anne Hathaway, and Kate Winslet.
What do you think? Man I love award season!

Just another Saturday night

Hello fellow bloggers . . . .
I have decided to put myself on a shopping hiatus. . unfortunately. Well I have some fantastic trips planned for this year, including a trip to Europe, so I want to try to save up some money so that I can fully enjoy them. However, that doesn't mean that I can't look and want.
First of all, I still want the j.crew dress. it seems perfect for summer.
I also want this Diane Von Furstenberg basic black wrap dress. I think it would be a perfect staple to add to the wardrobe. I really do love diane. Her dresses are so fab.

And then I would like this Love Quote scarf. It is very popular among the stars, and it's cute! It comes in tons of colors.
Of course there are plenty of other things I want, but those are on the top of my list right now. What is on your lists right now? I am just keeping my trips in mind every time I venture to nordstrom.com . . .
On the bright side, tomorrow night = golden globes. I know I can't wait to see what everyone wears! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

The Good, the bad, the ugly

As promised, I watched the People's Choice Awards so that I could give a full report on dresses worn. I have to say, I was slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, everyone looked fabulous, but many of the dresses were "safe." The general theme was short and elegant. Here are my favorites:

Carrie Underwood, Naeem Khan

Reese Witherspoon

Marisa Tomei, Donna Karen

A few honorable mentions:

Debra Messing, Donna Karen

Christina Applegate, Jenny Packham

Here are the not so good looks:

Katherine Heigl, D & G

Paris Hilton, I don't know what
Any thoughts?

People's Choice Awards

I am getting ready to watch the people's choice awards for one reason: to see what everyone wears!! That is my favorite part of all award shows. I am still waiting for it to begin, but in order to kill some time, I decided to look through pictures from awards shows in recent history. As I was looking through some of the best dressed lists, I came to a conclusion: carrie underwood always looks super cute! here are some of her looks I love

Red Naeem Khan

Silver & gold Badgley Mischka

White lace George Chakra

Gold Jovani Dress
I am looking forward to the dresses worn tonight! I will let you know my favs tomorrow!

j. crew tip

so here is a helpful hint for the j.crew website (i know i'm not the only one who has had an order cancelled): when you are adding something to you cart, enter a quantity of 99. If there are less than 99 of the item left, it will adjust the quantity down to the amount that's left! That way you will know if the item is close to selling out! i hope that helps!

Victoria's Secret & MAC

So as I posted earlier, the semi-annual sale is going on right now at Victoria's Secret. I like to stock up on things during the semi-annual sales, so I visited the store and the website. I found that it was easier to order online rather than search through the bins, looking for the right bra or panty in my size. While I was browsing, I can across a very cute PINK oxford shirt that I had to have, and it was only $16! Here is a picture. It is still on the website, under PINK.

Definitely worth $16! Also, I came across this coupon code for MAC. It is good for 25% off everything but VIVA GLAM products. The code is MACFF9, and it's good through January 8. MAC is also offering free shipping on orders over $60. I haven't tried it out yet, so let me know if anyone tries it! Oh and I'm still trying to decide on the j.crew dress.

what i want from j.crew

I was browsing the j.crew new arrivals earlier today, and i saw this super cute dress:

I was wondering if anyone has this dress, wants it, or has tried it on. Is it as cute as it looks? It seems like it would be a perfect summer dress. I am mad at j.crew right now for cancelling one of my orders, but this is quite cute! Oh and just a tip if you are ever in a situation where j.crew cancels your order: call and complain and ask them to give you a $20 off coupon!

Styles I want to steal

ok, so i know everyone has stars whose stlyles they absolutely love and envy. well, mine is currently rachel bilson. she is just so cute and stylish all the time. i think my favorite look of hers has to be the white Abaete dress she wore to the premiere of Awake.

here is a collage of other rachel bilson styles i really love.

what about you guys? whose style do you just love?
