Make-up question

I've recently decided that I no longer like my foundation. I'm not really sure why to be honest, maybe I am just ready for a change. I am currently using MAC SatinFinish Foundation. It is almost gone, so it's the perfect time for a change! What do you use? Any recommendations?

Thanks, and happy Thursday!

Here it is!

I love it!

L.L. Bean tote

Thank you for all the advice on the L.L. Bean tote. I decided it would be a good investment, so I ordered it last week with monogramming. When the bag shipped, it gave an estimated arrival date of tomorrow. So I tried to forget about it (since I was pretty excited, as usual, when I know I am receiving a package). Last night, the hubby and I got home late, so it was very dark when I pulled in. I saw something on my front porch, but I figured it was a phonebook since it looked like it was wrapped in a black plastic bag. So I went in, went to bed, and thought nothing of it. However, this morning when I was leaving for work, I thought it would be a good idea to take a closer look at the package, just to be sure it was a phonebook. Well, it was not a phone book. It was my L.L. Bean tote!! What a great way to start my Wednesday!! I grabbed it, threw it in the car and left (I was already running late). I tried to open it a little at every stop light I came to. I finally got it open, and it is adorable!! I ordered the large dark fuschia boat tote. I will take a pictures and post it later tonight, but I am SO glad I ordered it!

2009 Oscars Fashion

I was pretty impressed by the fashion at the Oscars. I love the light, neutal colored dresses and the statement jewelry. Here are my top 5 of the night. . I did find it more difficult than past award shows.

1.) Marisa Tomei in Versace. This dress is just absolutely gorgeous. Love the color, the one shape, and the one shoulder look.

2.) Heidi Klum in RM by Roland Mouret. I must say that red is definitely Heidi's color. She wears it quite a bit and always looks gorgeos. I love the shape of the dress and the cut outs.

3.) Taraji Henson in Roberto Cavalli. Again, I love the light, neutral tone. And I LOVE the necklace!

4.) Anne Hathaway in Armani. The sparkles look great on her. She is another star who always seems to glow.

5.) Miley Cyrus in Zuhair Murad. This dress stood out because it was unique, but I like it. I love the back and the waist.

Honorable Mentions? Diane Lane looked stunning, as did Evan Rachel Wood and Angelina Jolie (I have to admit, I can't stand her, so she must have looked good if I am mentioning her :) ) I liked the color of Natalie Portman's dress, but it was a little boring for me.
Any thoughts?

Happy Saturday

I hope everyone had a lovely Saturday! I had a great one! First, my husband and I got our taxes done. I am pretty happy to have those filed and done. Plus we are getting a refund, which is always good. Next was a Starbucks stop, always necessary :) Then I decided to wander over to Bloomingdales. I had a gift card, something to return, and a $25 off coupon. Perfect right? I found 2 Diane von Furstenberg dresses that I liked but didn't get (I am trying to be good)

I also saw the Elie Tahari top (posted below). It's so cute. They didn't have my size, so I didn't even tempt myself. I did end up getting one thing, a dress by Corey Lynn Calter.

I am definitely loving the one shoulder trend!

Next, the hubby and I went to dinner at Claim Jumper. Friday at work, my boss told me to go out to dinner this weekend and the company would reimburse me, to reward me for my hard work these past 2 weeks. That was a nice bonus! We went to see Slum Dog Millionaire. It was so good! I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first, but I definitely did!! I recommend it.

Tomorrow I plan to do. . . .

nothing!

Mani-pedi, fashion magazines, and the Oscars!

And one of my favorite men is hosting!

I hope you are all having a good weekend!!!

Cute top

While doing some online shopping, I came across this Elie Tahari top:
Isn't it cute? Too bad it's $300 :(

A fun new word

Happy Friday everyone! This was another super crazy week for me, so sorry for my lack of posts! I promise to catch up this weekend. Plus it is Oscar weekend, so plenty of fashion to look forward to. I learned a new word from my Shopaholics Daily Calendar (which I love by the way), and I thought I would share it with my blogger friends:
Shopping Sherpa, noun:

A husband dragged to the mall to carry the shopping bags, while his wife depletes yet another credit card

For some reason this word spoke to me :)
Any one else?

more from old navy

I ran into Old Navy today, and I spotted these:

It's sort of hard to tell, but it's a navy blue skirt with light blue polka dots. so cute! They also come in green. I thought they would be perfect for spring/summer, so I bought the navy pair. They are only $20.

Happy Valentine's Day (a little late) & awards!

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!! Mine was fabulous! The hubby and I actually went off to Las Vegas for the weekend! It was so much fun, I love going to Vegas! It was the perfect way to spend Valentine's Day weekend. We went to Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill for dinner on Saturday night, and it was excellent! I loved the food!! I highly recommend it! And to make things even better, I didn't have to work today (President's Day), so I got to relax all day after a busy weekend!

Next, I want to thank Erin at TexanCouture for the Love Ya award!

busy busy busy!!

Have you ever had one of those weeks that flew by super fast without even realizing it? Well that is how this week is going for me. I can't believe it is already 12:30 on Thursday already. I have been swamped at work, and then when I get home, all I want to do is lay on the couch and stare off into nothingness. Plus my eyes are killing me by the end of the day, so the last thing I want to do is look at a computer at home ( I stare at a computer all day at work.) So I do apologize for the lack of posts this week. But I am looking forward to this weekend because it is a 3 day weekend, and it's Valentine's Day!! yay! I think I am going to wear the Nanette Lepore red dress for dinner on Saturday because it is going to be cold and rainy out, so I can always wear that dress with tights. I will try to remember to take pictures! Oh and I think I have justified purchasing an L.L. Bean tote. I think I will get the large size in the dark pink.
Happy Thursday everyone, we are almost to Friday!! And I couldn't be happier about that!!

L.L. Bean tote, Europe vs. USA

So I have 2 quick questions that I need your help with!
1.) Does everyone but me have an L.L. Bean tote? Do I need one? Are they worth $30, and do they really last forever? Which one do you all have?

2.) Does anyone know if there is a difference (price, quality, etc.) between buying designer bags here and buying them in Europe? I am saving up to buy a Chanel, so I am trying to decide if it makes more sense to buy it here or buy it in London or Paris this summer when I go. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Any Valentine's Day plans? I still haven't chosen an outfit, but I will let you know what I do decide. Thanks for all your help with them thought!

2009 Grammys

There weren't too many dressed that wowed me tonight at the Grammys. But, as usual, Carrie looked fabulous in Zuhair Murad:

As for worst? The award goes to M.I.A. I mean, I understand she is like 9 months pregnant, but seriously???? Plenty of actresses have made pregnant look chic

Any thoughts?

Book review as promised!

Sorry this took so long, but here is my book review of Nina Garcia's The One Hundred, as promised.
The book goes through, alphabetically, the one hundred pieces that every stylish woman should own. It includes cute pictures, quotations from designers, short histories of the items, and some "where to buy" ideas for certain items. I really liked this book. Here are some of the items on her list:
ballet flats
Converse
investment bag
L.L. Bean tote
little black dress
little white dress
pearls
anything Pucci
Spanx
trench coat

The only con? It made me want to buy the things I don't have!!
Here is my favorite line from the book: " The investment bag - this is the bag you can spend a few weeks' salary on and not feel guilty (and you shouldn't). It is going to last you a lifetime, will not go out of style, and will only get better with age." The 4 investment bags she recommends are: The Chanel 2.55, LV Speedy, The Jackie O, and the Birkin.

Maybe next Nina will write this in a language men will understand :)
